Ballinasloe Active Retirement Association was nominated by Galway Co. Council to take part in the Age Friendly Community Initiative category for the Pride of Place 2015 competition, and were rewarded with a runner-up Trophy at the National Awards celebrations in Ennis at the end of the year.
In a category which had over 30 entries from the whole of Ireland the Ballinasloe group made a very detailed presentation of what Active Retirement members can do for themselves and for the wider community in which they live. The group was delighted that the Judging Panel saw fit to place their entry within the top three in this prestigious competition.
