Dublin Contemporary 2011

Dublin Contemporary & Active Retirement Ireland

Dublin Contemporary 2011 would like to invite all Active Retirement Ireland members to this unique event. For the special concession rate of only €10 per person, visitors can enjoy access to all participating venues and avail of Dublin Contemporary's many tours.

Dublin Contemporary 2011 - See the world through different eyes

Taking place from September 6th until October 31st, Dublin Contemporary 2011 is one of the most ambitious exhibitions ever staged in Ireland. Showcasing the work of more than 100 Irish and international artists, Dublin Contemporary is set to transform the city into a vibrant gallery. The exhibition is designed to welcome everyone, giving a unique insight into the world of contemporary art - you don't have to be an art connoisseur! Visitors of every age, from the novice to the expert, can expect a truly memorable experience where you can be introduced to visual art, innovation, creativity and imagination.

Main Exhibition Venue

Dublin Contemporary's main exhibition space is located in the heart of the city on Earlsfort Terrace. Previously home to University College Dublin and never before opened to the public, this magnificent venue is part of the National Concert Hall building. Renowned for its historical attributes, the characteristic surroundings of the building will remain untouched in a bid to keep its history alive. The adjacent Iveagh Gardens with its fountain and waterfall - Dublin's very own secret garden - will be Dublin Contemporary's sculpture park.

Extending its reach across the city, Dublin Contemporary 2011 will also partner with four seminal Dublin galleries: The Douglas Hyde Gallery at Trinity College, Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane, The National Gallery of Ireland and The Royal Hibernian Academy. Visitors can also enjoy an intriguing series of street works in 22 locations around the city.
