Over 450 members of Active Retirement Associations attended Active Retirement Ireland's Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Galway on the 09.04.14 where they discussed issues and motions relating to the organisation.
It was discussed and agreed to change the structure of the organisation to have each Active Retirement Association become a member of the limited company, rather than the previous arrangement whereby only board members constituted the company members.
The AGM opened by Mai Quaid, President of Active Retirement Ireland, focused on the theme of improving mental health and well-being.
Guest speaker Dr. Sabina Brennan, of the NEIL Project in Trinity College, gave a very interesting talk on improving brain health and mental capacity which went down really well with the delegates. Dr. Brennan highlighted how the physical, social and learning activities delivered by ARAs all around the country contribute to improved mental ability and better quality of life.

Dr. Sabina Brennan delivers the keynote address.
