Active Retirement Ireland is aiming to build strong county representation to work within the new Local Development Structures and the Public Participation Networks. This is an opportunity to influence decisions affecting older people, some of which will affect our members on an everyday basis. We are really hoping for good turnout for the workshops and encourage members of ARA committees to attend.
Advocacy means different things to different people; good advocacy enables individuals or groups of people to have their interests given fair treatment and consideration. The workshops will support ARA members to become more aware of how decisions are made and what they need to do to inform these decisions based on their life experience.
The workshops are designed to ensure the issues of older people can be heard by providing a framework of where the ARA has access for input to decisions and to ensure a better awareness of the role ARA members can play in decision making.
