Dec 11, 2017:
Pat Cussen RIP
It is with great regret that Active Retirement Ireland has learned of the death of Pat Cussen, who sat on the board of the organisation. Pat was a dedicated servant of Active Retirement Ireland and had worked for the organisation in a number of capacities.
Pat, a founder member of Moynalty Active Retirement Association, volunteered to serve as the first ever Regional Development Officer for the North East Region upon that region's establishment. Over his many years as a development officer, Pat established groups across Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan, and fostered positive relationships with other organisations that have lasted until the present day.
Having given his region years of loyal service, Pat decided that the board of Active Retirement Ireland was where he could effect the most lasting change. He was on the initial committee that established the National Bowls Competition, a tournament that has grown stronger and more popular every year since its inception. Pat also served as National Secretary. He represented Active Retirement Ireland on many national and regional bodies, and was a prominent member of the Meath Age Friendly Alliance.
Pat passed away peacefully on Saturday, surrounded by his loving family. He will be sorely missed by all in Active Retirement.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis agus suaimhneas síoraí dó.
